ABOUT THE FEDERAL LABOR FORUM

Within the Federal workforce, both management and labor seek to serve the public and accomplish Government's mission in an effective and efficient manner. Executive Order 13522 , signed by the President on December 9th, 2009, calls for Federal agencies to work together with employees and unions to improve the delivery of high quality services to the American people. The order also created the National Council on Federal Labor-Management Relations (the “Council”). ¹

Local Unionists express concern

40% of NFFE Locals rate this year as one of the worst in ten years for LMR harmony.  In what is supposed to be a good year for Labor, union officials at a variety of VAC Lodges are experiencing a very difficult time with VA Medical Centers.  From Local officers receiving written counseling to being placed in Leave without Pay status, local VA facilities are much more aggressive with NFFE Local officers.  If Labor Councils are to work, or "partnership" is to find success we must first restore the many strained relationships at NFFE stations.   Jackson, MS.

CONTRACT -- NFFE-IAM VA Council Contract Negotiations Team completed work on our Contract.  The document is in VA hands.   A few minor grammatical changes were identified and we are close, very close now.  Of the Eleven years this has been open, 2.5 were spent o actual bargaining and .6 years spent at the FSIP.  The remainder of time the issue has been with reviewing, formatting and editing.   As soon as Secretary Shinseki signs it, we can proceed to contract training.

Together, Labor and Management can work to make one VA, perfecting services to our Nation's Heroes'.
