November 15-16 NFFE-IAM VA Council Officers and members met with Chapter
31 staff from VBA Central Office. We discussed issues of importance to
our bargaining unit members including case load sizes, the autonomy of a
VR&E employee and stress levels that seem to be increasing among our
rank and file.
The NFFE asked VBA to delineate why certain Task Force 1 recommendations have been implemented yet others have not. We anticipate more feedback regarding how VBA determines to implement goals as defined in the 2004 Task Force report. NFFE will continue to emphasize what we believe to be deteriorating working conditions for our rank and file CH 31 members and attempt to work where partnership permits to enhance employee safety, employee satisfaction and make possible that our members can use their professional skills more, and clerical skills less.
